Exynos 9611 vs. Snapdragon 712
The dragons are coming.
It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity. What we as a civilization have achieved is very much beyond us. Today technology is so integral that it is somehow interwoven with being enlightened. What we can see is a monitor and wires and metal but they are rudimentary to technology. Their functions are visible. There is something however without which this hardware will become nothing but glowing boxes.
The humongous hardware that is visible to us is created with smaller units that come together to make it work. Like an atom which will never function alone. It contains within itself smaller units like protons and neutrons which are primary to its function. Similarly, any device has a microprocessor that is essential for its functionality.
I look up on Wikipedia the definition of a microprocessor, it says that “the microprocessor is a multipurpose, clock-driven, register-based, digital integrated circuit that accepts binary data as input, processes it according to instructions stored in its memory and provides results (also in binary form) as output.” This is anything but easy to understand.
In the simplest of terms, a microprocessor is a device that contains inside it smaller components like diodes, resistors etc. It actually is a device that could be called a mini CPU because their functions are the same. It contains millions of very small components that allow a device to function. A microprocessor is a device that communicates with other functions which means that without a microprocessor any device would be rendered useless.
This makes it very obvious that the microprocessor is very important for companies involved in the production of any device. Here comes the business opportunity for major manufacturers. They must create ideal microprocessors that will be market dragons. This reminds us of Qualcomm.
Difference between Exynos 9611 and Snapdragon 712
In the early 2019s, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 712 microprocessor. Before this earlier versions of the Snapdragon had also arrived, Snapdragon 665, Snapdragon 710 followed by the Snapdragon 712. What was different about this was that Qualcomm fabricated the Snapdragon 712 on Samsung’s LPP processor. Reviewers called it the very best mid-range microprocessor that year. All was going well until later that year Samsung released the Exynos 9611.
In the late of 2019s when Qualcomm started gaining popularity for the Snapdragon 712, Samsung made their release. Exynos 9611 was advertised as a mid-range microprocessor that was capable of providing high-end abilities. It was clear that Snapdragon 712 found a rival quicker than it was expecting. Many assumed that if it was not for Samsung Exynos 9611, the Snapdragon would have acquired a higher market share.
Quickly they were both being compared. This was also because they both were almost similar in prizes, both categorized and mid-range devices. They say rivals make the best teacher but that is for Samsung and Qualcomm to decide. Until then, the world has spoken, no about who is the best teacher but about who is the best processor.
The best way to decide what device is better is to study and compare their specifications. That is what we do when we buy a phone, right. So in the right corner, we have the oldest market player, Samsung and in the left, we have the new-gen Qualcomm.
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 712
Qualcomm has around an 8GB RAM, which is dual channel. Its storage is up to UFS 2.1. For reference, most premium android devices run on UFS 2.1. Snapdragon 712 can support 3360x1440p QHD+ HDR10 display.
It might help to remember that LG has the same monitor display. It has a 10nm process that Samsung has flaunted in many of its devices. The image signal processor is Spectra 250 with 2x. All these features are highly functional and have received no issues.
- Samsung Exynos 9611
Samsung has a 4GB quad-channel RAM. Just like the Snapdragon 712 Exynos 9611 to has UFS 2.1 storage. Which to be honest is not much of a challenge as Samsung has always sported that. Just like its rival the great Snapdragon it a 10nm process.
Reviewers have claimed that the Snapdragon 712 flaunts a better display than the Samsung Exynos but the latter gives better speed in terms of running an application.
The market has spoken. Samsung is a learned player as we might know. It has been very typical to bust its shares, Competitors have found it hard to deliver the same quality at the mid-range price that Samsung has. Turns out Qualcomm beat it this time. With a better GPU, CPU, Display, ISP and AL engine the Snapdragon 712 by Qualcomm won the reviewers heart. Many users were psyched about the sweet deal it provided. Its performance stood a chance among high-end processors and it gave better functionality.
That, however, does not end here. While Qualcomm received better reviews Samsung Exynos 9611 ended up earning more customers. Its customers were also many corporations and not just individual buyers. It clearly states that while better technology might shine brighter customer loyalty is hard to buy. Samsung is a trusted brand. While it will easier for Snapdragon 712 to outshine the Exynos 9611 it will be harder to outsell it.
