MediaTek is constantly rivalling Snapdragon processors with its advance technology. MediaTek processors are generally known for their gaming performance and Snapdragon processors are known for their overall performance. While both the Processors were released in the year 2020, Snapdragon 720G was released in January while the MediaTek Helio G95 was released in the beginning of September. CPU – Snapdragon 720G vs Helio G95
The major difference when it comes to both the processors is in their CPU’s. Although both processors boast of 8 cores, when it comes to CPU frequency, Snapdragon takes the lead over its counterpart MediaTek. The CPU frequency of Snapdragon is calculated to be as 2300 MHz while for Helio G95, it is 2050 MHz. The Geekbench score for single core of both Snapdragon and Helio G95 are 579 and 516 respectively while for multi- core it is 1704 and 1611 respectively. Both are good scores but Snapdragon is at clear advantage over Helio G95. But surprisingly, the AnTuTu score for both these processors are 281100 and 296805 for Snapdragon and Helio respectively. When it comes to size, Snapdragon stands at 8nm and Helio G95 stands at 12nm. With its small size, Snapdragon has a clear edge over Helio G95.
GRAPHICS – Snapdragon 720G vs Helio G95
Both processors offer great graphics. Snapdragon uses Adreno 618 as its GPU while Helio G95 uses Mali-G76MC4 as its GPU. The GPU frequency Helio G95 is clocked at a higher speed at 900MHz when compared to Snapdragon’s 500MHz. GPU frequency determines how fast the graphics can be processed. Hence the faster speed naturally translates to a better visuals and performance. It is not a surprise as Helio G95 is targeted more towards the gamers for better visuals and performance.
MEMORY – Snapdragon 720G vs Helio G95
Both Snapdragon 720G and Helio G95 have LPDDR4X memory type. The latter has 2×32 bit memory bus while the Snapdragon 720 runs 2x16bit memory bus. It means that the transfer of data in case of Helio G95 at any given time is faster when compared to Snapdragon 720G. The maximum memory size of Helio G95 is also larger when compared to Snapdragon 720G. The maximum memory size of Helio G95 is 10 GB while it is just 8GB for Snapdragon. The difference of 2 GB makes Helio G95 faster in speed when compared to the Snapdragon 720G.
MULTIMEDIA – Snapdragon 720G vs Helio G95
The neural processor of Snapdragon 720G is called Qualcomm Hexagon 692DSP and Helio G95 uses Da Vinci. Snapdragon uses Universal Flash Storage 3.0 or UFS while Helio G95 uses UFS 2.0. Maximum display resolution for both the processors stands at 2520×1080. The maximum camera resolution for Snapdragon 720G is 1x192MP, 2x22MP while for Helio G95 it is slightly lower at 1x64MP, 2x24MP. Although both of these processors can capture 4K videos, but Snapdragon 720G can capture them at 60FPS while Helio G95 can only capture them at 30FPS.
CONNECTIVITY – Snapdragon 720G vs Helio G95
Both of the processors are not created for 5G support. The 4G support for Snapdragon 720G is LTE Cat. 15 and for Helio G95 it is LTE Cat. 12. The download speed of Snapdragon is faster when compared to Helio G95. The download speed of Snapdragon is 800 Mbps while for Helio G95 it is only 600 Mbps. Both the processors have similar upload speed at 150 Mbps. Snapdragon uses Bluetooth 5.1, which is more modern when compared to Helio G95’s Bluetooth 5.0.
It is obvious that both of these processors offer almost similar features but Snapdragon 720G takes an edge over Helio G95. Snapdragon 720G makes for a faster processor with better features when compared to Helio G95. Although Helio G95 is a major upgrade over its previous version of Helio G90, there is still some room for improvement if it has to compete with Snapdragon 720G.
