HP Omen 15: The Good or Bad Omen

HP Omen 15 Review

The attractiveness of HP Omen 15 comes from its elegant portability and striking features. Historically, portable computers were considered to be a small forte market. They mainly specialized in field applications such as the military, accountants and sales representatives. In time, they became smaller, lighter and cheaper with larger and better quality screens. Laptops became a professional necessity from job-specific gadgets. Something that was meant for the military is now a corporate vital.

The market for laptops is continuously expanding. There is a constant change between user preferences. Most customers are switching from desktop computers to laptop portables. That is the reason that many new generation tech developers are taking interest in meddling with laptops. While new generation developers are moving into this field, old competitors are trying their best to maintain their previous position.

HP is the second-largest producers of Laptop across the globe second to none but Lenovo. Every year HP puts in countless efforts to launch startling gadgets in hope to replace Lenovo. However, Lenovo is anything but easy to beat, with a reputation for creating remarkable laptops in all ranges. One such effort is the HP Omen 15.

Launched on 21 July 2020 HP Omen 15 is a high-end laptop. It is a gaming laptop with high specifications. The electronics market has seen a rise in laptops that categorize themselves as gaming laptops seen the upsurge in its demand. They have been popularized by YouTubers and tech geeks.

It flaunts a sleek, sophisticated and silent design. The laptop is not too exaggerated to the point that it is the first thing you notice in a room. It is more moderate and subtle.  The HP Omen laptop lid displays a beautiful diamond that shimmers depending on the room light. The RGB lighting of the keyboard can be switched off so it will not stand out in a professional surrounding.

One impressive feature of the Laptop is the port selection. It has a USB-C (with Thunderbolt 3), 3x USB-A, HDMI, Mini Display Port, Ethernet and a headphone/microphone to go with the laptop.

However, this is where a few complaints rise towards the HP Omen 15. The first is that while the laptop is sturdy enough to endure a few knocks here and there, the screen is a bit wobbly. The wobbly screen can sometimes be a typing distraction or sometimes even a gaming distraction. This could just be a nit-pick but the second grievance is not.

It is a rather heavy device. It is not the lightest weight device out there so if you were looking for one of those you might want to consider other options. Heavy laptops are less portable while too many this would not matter, especially because it is acceptable for gaming laptops to be heavy. But many customers are looking for multi-takers and not just exclusive gaming devices and a heavy laptop could be a problem for them.

It has a Full HD IPS display. According to the reviews, the display is fairly moderate this is a disappointment for many as you would expect an above-average display form a high-end tech gadget or say a PC. HP had previously announced that there would also be a 300Hz configuration and a separate 4K option of the same model but they had been absent from the HP store initially. If you are looking for more colour accuracy or want to do work that requires smarter colour intelligence then it is advised to look into the 4K option. With a 15.6 inch display to go with the HD performance, the HP Omen 15 might not get a perfect score but 9/10 will be a logical reply.

The most important criteria of a gaming laptop are definitely the performance it delivers and the same goes for HP Omen 15. The performance standard is very high and hard to beat. To be specific the HP Omen 15 boasts the 10th Generation Intel Core i7-10750H, it might not get better than that. The graphic card is one of the best in the market today Nvidia RTX 2070 Max-Q graphics card. It has a 1TB SSD included which is a very expensive configuration.

The performance specs got all the gamers very excited even before the result. Some of its features are very high-end that too at a price that is more than acceptable. It also has an RTX GPU that can give you access to ray tracing and DLSS. The HP Omen also exploits the 144Hz refresh rate to the best by enabling benchmark frame rates.

HP Omen 15 is one of the few laptops that provide 1080p ray tracing at an affordable price. Not only that but also the other specs that make this laptop the start of the gaming world. If there is one thing we can be sure about, it is the fact that HP Omen 15 has a great delivery performance.

The RGB keyboard of the HP Omen 15 is a fan favourite. But that is not the only thing about it. It has beautiful keycaps that are perfect for gamers. The spacing is also appropriate to enable maximum dexterity. RGB can also be controlled through setting which is an added benefit.

The HP Omen 15 Track-pad has also come to be known for its precision. It is very responsive and navigation is rather easy on the said Track-pad.

It is already established that HP Omen 15 has an Intel CPU. While Intel CPU is known for many things great battery life is not one of them. The battery life of the Omen 15 is rather moderate. It is also already known that batteries damage with time at least to some extent. This is one place where the HP Omen 15 might demand work.

While there are some areas where the HP Omen 15 can work it has nailed the performance aspect. If great performance is your foremost aim than the HP Omen 15 is made for you.
